It has been a privilege to work with Giuseppe. Over the course of three sessions, we worked on techniques that improved my posture, breathing capacity, and flexibility, with an intensive focus centred on utilising methods that allowed myself to fully embrace the moment during music performance. We also build trust in bypassing the ‘control’ of the left side of the brain and embracing the ‘creativity’ of the right side. Now I feel a new sense of harmony and freedom, both physically and mentally, during practice and performance!
Giuseppe Ravì has the ability to perceive, diagnose and treat both the natural defects and counterproductive habits, accumulated over time, of the human body in an appropriate way befitting to the needs and capabilities of each individual he works with.
My personal struggles with posture and the resulting tension, discomfort and physical limitations, which I have been dealing with since my adolesence, were addressed and resolved within the first couple of sessions. The freedom which resulted in the following weeks is something I had always searched for but never attained. My physical strength has been fully restored thanks to him. I truly believe that he has a gift and, even more, the ability to help people overcome their physical problems and disabilities.
Giuseppe Ravì has a rare gift: he understands the human body and its traumas, its tensions and its unbalance in an instant –and furthermore he is able to help you to change to the better!
Already after the first session I walked differently, stood and sat differently–breathed differently! My right hip, for months in bad pain after a stage accident, suddenly felt free again. Most of the pain was gone after the 5th session. My feet, walking with the tips too far outside since I was a kid, are moving straight now! After years of trying with several techniques, sports, exercises of which nothing had helped!!
Giuseppe carefully released a lot of tensions from my body that I had built up for ages. He also unblocked my back and I feel that I have a lot more air capacity now, which is essential for singing. I can support my voice in a much softer but steadier way. After he worked on my throat muscles I was able to let the high c sharp float out in a steady, soft pianissimo as I had always dreamed of doing it. Thank you Giuseppe!
After the first session, I had a wonderful feeling which is hard to explain… I felt very supported by a body ready yet relaxed.
There weren’t more unnecessary tensions that made me waste a lot of energy even just by keeping standing still.
Each movement from the most trivial to the most complex seemed easy and light.
I am reborn, becoming aware of having a body that is alive; that’s what you’re gonna get with Respiro e Movimento.
After the first few sessions, my body is completely reset; in fact, even in everyday life it was strangely easy, as if the gears were oiled.
Because what’s acquired is a right conception of an exceptional body that makes you a participant of your body’s life: your body doesn’t go by itself, but you are the one who is guiding it.
I am enthusiastic! I started this journey with great curiosity, and from the first session, I felt and saw my body different!
Before I was not totally aware of my body. Sometimes it serves a critical eye and an expert to help us notice the unnatural aspects. My instability has been balanced at last!
For me, it was an enlightening work!
Now, yes. I breathe and I move.
It’s amazing how much life is hidden in our body, and it’s incredible how it’s passing by undetected.
I look forward to having the same feelings on stage, being aware that through this new body, my emotions will be expressed in a more perceptive and correct way.
Thanks to an internship with Giuseppe Ravì, I finally listened to my body: its true voice.
With Giuseppe, we have seen my blocks, caused by trauma established in memory, too far away to think that they gave origin to any of my moves, before considered “natural”. There are no words to explain the experience…
…You just have to try it!
While dancing with Euroballetto in Rome, I was very fortunate to take classes with Giuseppe. His theory and its practical application have changed my understanding of movement and what to strive for.
Fantastic stability, change in breathing, increased flexibility, increased movement possibility, less effort used in movement, less muscle pain…
For me personally, the most significant change was in my body sensation. Aligning my body results in a relaxed state of being, where so much more movement is possible without strain. It’s a whole new feeling.
The work done with Giuseppe Ravì went to pick-axe right at the base of some certainties, or to investigate whether a more upright posture and a healthy energy management were the real protagonists of the dynamics at work in our bodies as compensations. Compensations that all bodies act unconsciously and which are, however, built on incorrect posture and arrangements thereof.
Interesting to note that perhaps the effect of this work as the latter has influenced not by chance but by the interpersonal dynamics between the various members of the group, confirming that there is no physical work on any part of the body that is not bound closely to our feelings.
I’m not speaking about a nightmare or a horror film in Hong Kong, I’m telling you my REAL experience from the workshop of Respiro e Movimento.
After 13 hours in two days of placement, the body changes, but especially the body perception as well as attention span increasing. One cannot describe the exercises, not because of secrecy, but because I could not do it without falling into the ridiculous and unnecessary descriptive gesture.
Instead of recommending to all, this work, which is not only offered from the workshops, but also the lessons from the Master Classes and individual sessions, I do not recommend it highly to those who do not want to consider their body as a tool, to get involved to improve it.
He who wants to stay in a chair waiting for the furniture changes alone, is not one for the lessons.
To analyze my experience with Respiro e Movimento only as a dancer would be highly restrictive, because the path that I walked was much more intimate and thorough.
Now I started to listen to me, as if I was coming into a more intimate relationship with myself. There are many details that I received and probably will take some time to be able to metabolize all, but in any case I feel “richer”.
I believe that beyond the professional, there is a person with a special gift, one who knows how to give, using his energy and resources to those who are open.
I conclude with a simple THANK YOU.
The word that best describes the sensation is “OPEN.”
Having normally the constant perception of a closure of the back level and of the shoulders, after the third meeting is as if there was a “click” to an opening. And it all happened in an absolutely natural way… without constraints or imposed attitudes.
This new opening made me find greater stability, a feeling of greater security and, artistically speaking, the greater stage presence.
I am sure that my thoughts may seem apparently obvious, but I’m also pretty sure that there will be someone who will understand the weight and essence of my experience, I trust in this.
I do not like getting lost in useless words and decorative considerations of little substance. Looking back on the week day by day… I can only say… THE INCREDIBLE IN THE OBVIOUS.
Thanks to the work that I was fortunate to start with Giuseppe under the Euroballetto course, I sensed how making difficult moves were possible without pain, without contractions, focusing on “tuning” my body and looking for a harmony with the body free of tension.
After the individual session, I had the chance to feel how the weight went down. This gave me a great stability, a feeling of growing by at least 2 cm, and an incredible ease in making movements at first difficult for me, the feeling that the joints were much looser, because the contractions of the neck and muscles, back and legs and jaws that I had before the session weren’t there any more.
Now after finding this beautiful path of work, I try to take a step forward to each new work of my own.
I started working with Giuseppe Ravì without even having the slightest idea of what I would achieve. Embarking on a journey like this requires a willingness for one to question themselves, to understand and accept their “own deficiencies” of posture and to overcome them.
I definitely achieved the connection that binds the breath, posture and movement, as one can be functional to the other. Above all I grasped as a smooth exchange of these aspects, that they are beneficial to the psyche, as well as to the body.
Fatigue is lower and the energy flow is greater. I finally feel in control of my body and every single part that composes it.
This morning when I was dancing I had the wonderful feeling of having more space inside of me that allowed me not only to organize the movements more clearly, but also to give more “breathing” to the head and the memory that it could focus on the individual movements of the choreography without passing for a series of intermediary problems.
All parts of my body still bound by bad habits are like dark points with which it’s hard to work, but at least I do not feel that nervousness of the early days when I felt like a single block of stone (…I’ve always believed to be dissolved…)
There is one thing of which before I was not worried of: the awareness of my body. Now I’m beginning to hear what it asks for, and what it no longer needs. And this, as in everyday life, as in specific activities, I think it is paramount.
I feel helped in my goal, which is to know myself deeply, not only physically but also mentally. I feel that I can understand myself better and control my movements connecting perfectly to my thinking, amd the result that I want. I feel I’m finding a balance that goes beyond the finish line I can get as a dancer, but as a person and this I consider it significant.
By participating in the stage of Respiro e Movimento, I instantly experienced a fabulous discovery: I DISCOVERED MY BODY! Unbelievable!
This was, however, timely but while chasing greedily the evolution of the stage, my reason slowly thought back over all the work and commitment of thirty-four years as a dancer but also as a teacher, and I was not satisfied because the sacrifice of years was put into question.
This new path will be substantial, tiring and exhausting but with Giuseppe’s help I hope to change the teaching’s technique I have adopted so far.
I feel centered! Wonderful experience and especially effective from the first session!
I noticed improvements in posture and above all in my balance. It seems I have gained inches in height, I breathe better and I have no more pain in my neck. Amazing feeling for me since I have always suffered from such problem!
I’d recommend it to everyone, actors, singers, dancers… PEOPLE!
Prior to this meeting with Respiro e Movimento, I had never imagined that there was such a strong correlation between physical “balance” and fluidity of emission, which is a coveted goal, between us, singers.
From the first session, improvements were evident. The compensation that my body has created has been reduced. The tensions and contractures that gripped my body have been relaxed.
